EXP 101: Export Overview

Exports from the United States are regulated by many different government agencies, at least five different agencies for even the simplest exports. For an exporter to implement an export compliance program it is necessary to start with a basic understanding of the regulations and what is required to comply with them.

This course defines what an export is and what items are covered under the various regulations. It also provides an overview of the criteria for determining which agencies have jurisdiction and a brief description of the activities of each agency. Included is a description of the most common prohibitions on exports and when an export license may be required. Guidelines for implementing the export compliance program are outlined.
